Climate science and support for climate policies have been polarized in the United States for over two decades. While partisanship and ideology are key to understanding much of this polarization, racial identities and prejudices have become increasingly associated with climate change in recent years. We are joined by Dr. Salil Benegal who will talk about how racial prejudices have contributed to this polarization and how this may create new barriers to action on climate change.

Dr. Salil Benegal is an assistant professor at the Department of Political Science at DePauw University (Indiana, USA). His research examines climate science communication, political misinformation, and the polarization of climate change in the United States.
